Preposiciones de tiempo

Already, yet, still, by, during.... A veces nos armamos un poco de lío con la utilización de las preposiciones de tiempo, sobretodo con las combinaciones already-yet y since-for, para que esto no vuelva a ocurrir aquí teneis unas reglas muy sencillas que os ayudarán a utilizar correctamente todas las preposiciones de tiempo. ¡Espero que os sirvan!

ALREADY:

se usa con Presente Perfecto

Sólo en oraciones afirmativas

Se coloca entre el auxiliar y el verbo

Se traduce como YA

                I have already finished

·       YET:

Se usa con Presente perfecto

Se utiliza en oraciones negativas e interrogativas

Se coloca al final de la oración

Se traduce por ¿YA? o TODAVÍA NO

                Have you finished yet?

                I haven’t finished yet

·       STILL:

Se usa con Present Simple, Continouos o Perfect.

Con Present Simple o Continouos se coloca delante del verbo principal. Con Present Perfect Se coloca delante del Have.

Tiene dos significados :

-          - Una acción TODAVÍA continua ocurriendo

-          - Una acción AÚN no ha ocurrido (= q YET)

I’m still studying at school

I still haven’t visited London

·      JUST:

Se usa con Present Perfect

Se utiliza para indicar que acabamos de realizar una acción

Se coloca entre el auxiliar (have) y el verbo principal.

I have just said it

DURING:

Cuándo ocurre algo dentro de un período o actividad.

I’ll try to pone you during the meeting

He was in hospital during the summer

FOR:

Describe la duración de una actividad

He was in hospital for six weeks.

·      SINCE:

Dice cuando comenzó una actividad

                My friend has been in hospital since august

·       AGO:

Para indicar cuanto tiempo hace que sucedió algo

Se traduce por HACE

He was in hospital six months ago

BY:

Se utiliza para hablar de una acción que acurrirá antes de un momento determinado del futuro.

Significa NO MÁS TARDE DE.

                You have to leave by Monday morning

UNTIL:

Se utilize para hablar del momento en el que terminará una acción.

Se traduce como HASTA
